GoldenRAM
To support access to a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials in the European Union, the GoldenRAM platform is designed to enable the exchange of accurate information in the raw materials industry.
About GoldenRAM
The GoldenRAM project is developing an Earth Observation Platform which deploys the latest advances in IT, Cloud and AI technologies. The platform is designed to facilitate the exchange of accurate information on Raw Materials in Europe and partner countries to support mining companies, stakeholders in the mining industry, and the general public. It will utilize AI and Natural Language Processing alongside advanced AI “knowledge packs” to streamline complex computational workflows. A variety of important use cases will be demonstrated, as detailed below.
Exploration
To support exploration activities, the platform will utilise EO imagery and geological data to automatically map minerals across spatial scales. Hyperspectral imagery is used for mineral prospecting, drill core analysis and secondary mineral deposit mapping to facilitate resource evaluation.
Environment
The platform is designed to provide integrated monitoring of environmental impacts, including effects on vegetation, soil and ground water.
Production, Operations & Safety
To support ongoing mining activities, the platform will enable the monitoring of key assets like open pit and tailings dams’ stability, as well as volume change monitoring to account for waste materials in real-time.
Prospecting, Reporting & Exploitation
The platform will enable the identification of promising ore occurrences and the assessment of mining tailings as potential secondary CRMs. A focus will be placed on deposits and tailings in Ukraine, using the platform’s capabilities to potentially discover new critical raw material deposits.
Field Trials
The platform will be demonstrated in 6 field trials in Finland, Sweden, Romania, Portugal, and Ukraine, creating a compelling value proposition for implementation across the mining value chain and improving the responsible and sustainable supply of CRMs.
